How do various stressors impact our health? When people talk about stress, they often focus only on emotional stress. However, numerous other factors also place stress on our bodies and, as a result, influence our health.

Foods

The foods we consume not only offer nourishment but also convey messages to the body. Consuming specific foods delivers information through proteins, vitamins, and minerals to produce neurotransmitters, hormones, and more. Additionally, it can trigger immune responses that increase cortisol, encourage inflammation, or lead to autoimmune conditions, among other effects.

Toxins

Toxins can be found in our environment through the soil, air, water, foods, and personal hygiene products, along with other items like carpets, paints, and air fresheners. You may encounter VOCs while at home or sitting in traffic.

Pathogens

Pathogens, including different bacteria, viruses, and fungi, are part of our everyday environment. Living in a completely sterile setting is not feasible. These microorganisms are necessary to stimulate our immune system, much like how exercise strengthens our muscles.

All of these factors, together with our emotional condition, influence our health and wellbeing. For instance, without the proper nutrients, our detoxification system cannot efficiently remove toxins. Additionally, pathogens cannot be eradicated if our immune system is overwhelmed by toxins or battling inflammation caused by our diet.
